Humans and machines alike need regular maintenance in order to ensure prime health. For people, regular checkups are a part of staying in shape and keeping all our joints moving as they should. For cars, oil changes are those regular checkups and they are must-do if you don’t want your car’s engine to seize up and leave you stranded on the side of the road. Here is how an oil change benefits a car engine.

Remove Internal Grime

Engine produce buildups of dirt and grime as they run and the oil collects all this gunk as it makes its way around the engine. When you drain old oil out of the motor all of the nasty stuff that makes your engine work harder than it needs to comes out of the engine with it. This means new oil will your car running better and getting higher MPGs!

Regulate Engine Temperature

Because old oil collects all the dirt and other that ends up inside the engine it creates more heat due to the excessive amounts of material floating around the engine. Fresh oil is designed to keep engine temperature down, helping to ensure your car doesn’t overheat.

Proper Lubrication

Of course, the most important role engine oil plays is lubrication. Without oil all the moving metal parts would grind on each other and the engine would quickly fall apart or seize up. To keep your engine pumping be sure to have a professional auto mechanic perform this necessary auto maintenance.

There are many types of auto maintenance that cars and trucks require. It is important to keep up with these services, which do include oil changes, to prevent breakdowns and poor performance. Your car is made up of numerous systems that work together in order to get you from point A to point B. While it is the engine that creates the power that moves the vehicle, it is the transmission which transfers that power to the wheels in order to actually make them spin. Should your car suffer transmission failure you could very well end up stranded on the side of the road. If you notice any of the following signs of transmission trouble don’t hesitate to get to a quality auto repair shop for diagnostics and service.

Grinding Noises

One of the more common early signs of transmission trouble is a grinding or squealing noise that occurs while the transmission shifts. This can happen with both automatic and manual transmissions. Shifting should always be smooth and silent, so any strange noises deserve to be checked out.

Delayed Shifting

When you shift from park to drive or as the automatic transmission shifts between forward gears on its own there should not be a spike in RPMs from the engine. If there is it means the transmission is not engaging as quickly as it should, which is likely due to low levels of transmission fluid.

Pops out of Gear

One of the more dangerous signs of manual transmission trouble is if the gear shifter suddenly pops out of gear into neutral. This prevents you from being able to properly control your car so be sure to get to a repair shop before this problem causes an accident.

Can’t Shift into Gear

An obvious symptom of transmission trouble is if you can’t shift your car into gear at all. This can happen in both manual and automatic transmissions. More often than not you will need more serious repairs at this point.

Transmission Fluid Leak

Transmission fluid is usually dyed a reddish color to help differentiate it from other automotive fluids. Should you find a puddle of red fluid where you normally park your car you’ll want to visit a transmission repair center ASAP. Low levels of transmission fluid can cause any number of problems, including most of the above.

Never put off having transmission issues checked out, as the longer you wait the worse it will get. For expert transmission repair in Las Vegas bring your foreign or domestic car, truck or SUV to the team at Master Automotive Centers. Our transmission repair technicians will diagnose and repair your vehicle, ensuring it is safe and reliable.
